LeT rejects Ramzan truce offer; to step up attacks
Tuesday, October 28 2003 16:49 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: Outlawed Pakistan-based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) rejected a call by several politicians for a unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir during the holy month of Ramzan, which began on October 28, saying that gun was the only solution to the vexed issue.

"The mission of Mujahideen is complete liberation of Kashmir from Indian occupation. They will not cease their operations until this goal was achieved," LeT spokesman Abu Huzaifa said in a statement to an English daily in Srinagar.

Warning people to keep away from security installations, Huzaifa said LeT does not want people to become unintended targets of attacks, which would be intensified during Ramzan.

The outfit also described the latest peace package offer by India to Pakistan as a means to "deceive" people.
