Uma Bharti will contest Assembly elections: BJP

Bhopal: Dispelling doubts about firebrand party leader Uma Bharti contesting the December 1 Madhya
Pradesh Assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu on October 28 said
she would be in the fray.
"Why should there be any question about Uma Bharti not contesting? There should not be any doubt
about her being not in the fray," Naidu told reporters when asked whether the star campaigner of BJP
would fight the Assembly elections.
Asked from which constituency Bharti is likely to contest, he said everybody would come to know about
her seat when the Chief Ministerial candidate files her nomination papers.
The BJP chief said none in the party had ever given the impression to anyone that Uma Bharti would not
be contesting the Assembly elections and that there were wrong reports about it.
To a query about the role of BJP Legislative Party if it secures majority in the elections since Bharti has
already been projected as Chief Minister, Naidu said the Legislature Party would formally put its stamp
of approval.
Naidu was in Bhopal together with party general secretary Pramod Mahajan and Union Minister Arun
Jaitley, election incharge for Madhya Pradesh, to review the political situation and finalise preparations
for polls in the state.
