EU to have strategic relation with India: Sinha

London: India and the European Union (EU) will sign a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU)
at their forthcoming Summit in New Delhi on November 29, External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha
said.
Soon after his extensive talks with the EU Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten in Brussels,
Sinha told reporters that the MOU would include one on National Indicative Programme involving 160
million Euros, a Scholarship Programme worth 30 million Euros and a Customs co-operation
agreement.
"Clearly the feeling in EU is, that their relations with India is strategic and they are keen that this should
progress in the years to come not merely in the field of trade and
investment but it should have a political dimension," the External Affairs Minister said.
During his meeting with Chris Patten and earlier with Javier Solana, High Representative of the Council
of the European Union, Sinha discussed regional and global issues
including Afghanistan, Sri Lanka.
They also exchanged views with regard to the UN system, global terrorism, Iraq, Middle East.
