BSE: Sensex opens higher on increased buying

Mumbai: Shares prices started further strong on the Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE) today (October 31)
as the sensitive index continued its upward trend for the fourth straight day and opened better at
4787.05 as against the previous close of 4780.52 on increased buying interest after the excellent Q2
results declared by some of the major companies.
Buying activity was seen right from the beginning and prices continued to their upward march on
persistent support.
The BSE 30-share index opened the day on a better note at 4787.05 and after rising further to a high of
4827.38 was quoted at 4824.15 at 10.30 AM (IST), 43.63 points higher than the previous close.
In view of good Q2 results scrips of Tata Steel and Hero Honda resumed sharply higher, while BHEL met
with fresh profit selling and remained weak.
Other firm spots at the opening session were Reliance, BSES, CIPLA, HDFC, ITC, Larsen & Toubro,
MTNL, Ranbaxy, ACC, GACL, Grasim, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Satyam Computer.
Today's top gainers were Hindustan Zinc with a rise of 4.59 pc followed by Gillette (4.42 pc), CMC Ltd
(3.99 pc), Aurobindo Pharma (3.96 pc), Bombay Dyeing (3.52 pc), Hero Honda (3.26 pc), Cen Tex (3.16
pc) and Tamilnadu Petro (3.05 pc).
Meanwhile, the top losers were Shyam Tele which fell by 3.85 pc, followed by Mukta Arts (3.60 pc),
Bharti Tele 3.51 pc, Dr Reddy (3.37 pc) and ABB (2.41 pc).
