2 KLO ultras killed in encounter with security forces

Siliguri: Two Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) militants were killed in an encounter with security
forces at Buxa hills in Kalchini police station area along India-Bhutan border in Jalpaiguri district of West
Bengal today (Nov 1), police said.
A joint force of police, combat commando force and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was fired
upon by the ultras at Buxa Hills near river Katlung, prompting the security personnel to retaliate,
Superintendent of Police Siddhnath Gupta said.
In the ensuing exchange of fire from automatic weapons two KLO ultras were killed, Gupta said, adding
at least 600 rounds were fired in the encounter.
Two AK-56 rifles and four magazines were recovered from the spot, the SP said.
The raid team went to the area following tip-off that the KLO established a camp there and used to
supply essentials to their counterparts across the border every week, Gupta said, adding that supply
link has now been snapped following today's operation.
Besides Gupta, CRPF deputy commandant S Jaichand and Additional SP, Alipurduar R Rajsekhar led
the security forces.
Of the two KLO ultras killed, one was identified as Rahul Singha while the name of the other was not
known.
There was no report of any casualty or injury on the side of security forces.
