Ahmedabad: Police today (November 1) asked noted danseuse Mallika Sarabhai to furnish "within five
days" documents pertaining to her academy, foreign tours of the dance troupes and "some" other points
mentioned in the complaint of alleged cheating filed against her, official sources said.
As per court's directive, Sarabhai presented herself at the Naranpura police station, where the offence
has been registered against her under Sections 420 and 409 of the Indian Penal Code
(IPC).
Sarabhai, who is the director of Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, also deposited her passport as
per the court's orders.
The investigating official M K Katariya sought the information through some "written queries", which
related to "some points" mentioned by the complainant Manushi Shah.
"We have asked her to furnish the information on the questions within five days," Kataria said. He,
however, refused to divulge any details saying the investigation was still in progress.
However, the danseuse's advocate R K Shah said that the information sought today was the same which
was asked for by the charity commissioner and Joint Commissioner of Police.
"Police has asked us to produce documents about the foreign tours, number of participants and the
number of tours organised by the academy. We had already furnished this information with the charity
commissioner and Joint Commissioner of Police earlier," Shah said.
