Ranchi: Taking exception to Pakistan offering 100 scholarships to Kashmiri students, External Affairs
Minister Yashwant Sinha today (November 1) said Islamabad was obsessed with Jammu and Kashmir.
"India has never said, for instance, only 20 children from Baluchistan or Sindh or NWFP (North West
Frontier Province) will be given free medical treatment. All our measures are applicable to all
Pakistanis," Sinha, who left for Hazaribag by road, told reporters.
Stating that no offer could be region or State-specific and must be applicable to the entire country,
Sinha said, "Pakistan is obsessed with Jammu and Kashmir and therefore they made it Jammu and
Kashmir-specific... This is not acceptable to us."
Asked whether he thought developing nations were being given greater voice in the decision-making
process of international monetary institutions, he said, "Like at Cancun, all developing nations should
work together."
To a question on the merger of Samata-Janata Dal-United (JD-U), he said, "My good wishes are with
them."
Expressing displeasure over recent media reports on the affairs of the Jharkhand unit of Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP), Sinha asked the media not to speculate.
