Raipur: District Collectors of Bastar and Jashpur, who were removed from their posts by Election
Commission for violating its model code of conduct in view of the December 1 Assembly election, have
obtained a stay from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) against their removal.
Jashpur Collector B S Anant and Bastar Collector L N Suryawansi yesterday (October 31) obtained the
stay from CAT against their removal, a top State official said today (November 1).
The tribunal, making the EC and others as parties, fixed November 13 as the next date of hearing, the
official said.
Both Anant and Suryawansi had challenged the October 29 order of the EC about their removal, the
official said and clarified that both the Collectors had not relinquished charges despite EC order and
instruction from the Chhattisgarh Government.
"Now, after obtaining a stay, they are continuing in their posts," the official added.
