22 dead, 30 injured as bus plunges into valley

Pune: At least 22 people, including two children, were killed and 30 injured when a luxury bus from Gujarat plunged into a valley near Panchgani in Maharashtra's Satara district November 1 night, police said.

The accident occurred at Pasarni Ghat when the bus, carrying 56 passengers, was travelling to Pune from Mahabaleshwar, a hill station.

The driver of the bus lost control while negotiating a sharp curve and the bus fell into 200-ft deep valley near Buha Saheb temple, police said.

Bodies of 22 passengers had been recovered, they said adding the search for the missing four was on.

Most of the passengers hailed from Surat in Gujarat. The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
