VHP slams BJP; asks it to stick to Hindutva agenda

New Delhi: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) today (November 2) said it will not boycott any party in the
forthcoming Assembly elections but asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to keep in mind the Hindutva
agenda to get the support of the Hindu community.
"There will be no specific strategy of VHP. We will not boycott any party. But the Hindu community will
boycott that party which does not work for them," VHP leader Ashok Singhal said on the sidelines of a
function to mark "Gopashtami".
He, however, criticised the BJP for not adhering to its commitments on issues like Ram Janmabhumi and
legislation to ban cow slaughter.
"The outcome is clear in Uttar Pradesh, where the party has slipped to third position now," Singhal said.
The Sangh Parivar outfit had earlier announced that it would not organise public functions in states
going to polls, apparently to remove any perception that it favoured BJP.
