Patiala: Close on the heels of Daler Mehndi episode, police today (Nov 3) arrested another Punjabi
singer in an alleged illegal human trafficking case registered on the complaint of a resident of Noorkhedi
village near Patiala, police said.
The singer Sukhwinder Mann alias 'Sukha Delhi' was arrested from Patiala while allegedly receiving the
final instalment of Rs eight lakh from the complainant Balbir Singh, a resident of Noorkhedi area, a
senior police officer said in Chandigarh.
Mann is the second singer to have been booked by the local police, which recently registered a similar
case of illegal human trafficking against Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher.
According to police, Mann had promised to take the complainant abroad after finalising a marriage
alliance for him with a girl in the US.
Instead of taking people in musical troupes, the singer allegedly used to settle the alliances of boys
interested in going abroad for Rs 16 lakh, the police officer said.
A case of fraud and cheating has been registered against the singer, police said adding further
investigations were being conducted.
The modus operandi included arranging meeting of the aspirants with some local woman introducing her
as a relative of the girls settled abroad, police said.
