Beijing: In an apparent reference to Indo-Pak tension, China's top helmsman and military leader Jiang
Zemin today (November 5) told Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf that persons of insight should
consider how to avoid wars and that disputes between countries should be resolved through dialogue
and co-operation.
"Each person of insight should consider how to avert wars and losses of lives, and establish a new
international political and economic order that is fair and rational,"
Jiang, Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) was quoted as saying by the official Xinhua
news agency.
He told Musharraf that China has always stood for peace and insisted on resolving disputes through
dialogue and co-operation, adding that countries, with their different
civilisations, should undertake dialogue and exchanges on an equal footing, and learn from one another
so as to push human civilisation to prosperity and enrich and develop their own.
"The China-Pakistan friendship should be passed on and pushed forward from generation to
generation," Jiang was quoted by the official Xinhua news agency.
Jiang described Musharraf's just-concluded state visit as one "inheriting the past and forging ahead into
the future" since he had met with China's new leaders and old friends.
