Power supply in Maharashtra affected severely
Wednesday, November 5 2003 13:07 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Power supply to the Western parts of Maharashtra, except Mumbai, was severely affected following a grid collapse today (Nov 5) morning.

"Following the grid collapse, power supply was disrupted at 10.30 AM (IST) and we are trying to restart the generating station," Mahartashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) chairman Ashok Basak told reporters in Mumbai.

The disruption was caused due to low voltage and the Parali-Chandrapur line tripped around 10.30 AM (IST), MSEB sources said.

"We expect the supply to be restored soon," Basak said.

Power Grid Corporation official said the work is on to restore supplies and "we are analysing the cause for disruption."
