Mumbai: Sunanda Shetty, mother of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and accused in an extortion case,
today (November 6) met Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma to seek clarifications in regard to
chargesheet filed against her in Surat.
The Umra police in Surat had yesterday (Nov 5) filed chargesheet against Sunanda, her husband
Surendra and three others on the charge of hiring gangsters to recover Rs 2 crore due to actress
Shilpa from a saree manufacturer for working in an ad film.
Sharma said Sunanda had met him in connection with the case and complained that she was falsely
implicated.
"But I asked her (Sunanda Shetty) to contact Surat police as they have filed chargesheet against her,"
Sharma said.
Surat police claim to have in their possession tape recorded telephonic talks which reveal that
businessman Pankaj Agarwal was threatened by Shilpa's parents to pay the money or face
consequences.
Police has also obtained sample voices of Sunanda to match them with the ones figuring in the alleged
telephonic talks. The voice samples have been sent to forensic laboratory in Delhi.
Earlier, the trial court in Surat had granted bail to Sunanda on certain conditions.
