Washington: Americans of Pakistani origin are opposing the candidature of Indian American Republican
Bobby Jindal in the gubernatorial race in Louisiana.
They are instead supporting his opponent Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, a Democrat in the elections, the
voting for which is fixed for Nov 15, the Pakistani American Congress (PAC) said.
The PAC and the Patriot Muslim-Americans (PMA) are carrying out a full scale and
hectic election campaign for "a friend of our cause" and supporting the candidature of Kathleen
Babineaux Blanco for the post of Governor of the State of Louisiana, the PAC
website said.
Bobby Jindal, an Indian, in the words of M Ashraf Abbasi, president PAC, "is a highly prejudiced person,
who could be a future threat for Pakistani interests in the United
States."
In an appeal, the PMA has asked the members to pledge to vote for Kathleen Blanco, "for a progressive,
tolerant and prosperous Louisiana that is free of hate, bigotry, ethnic profiling and
discrimination."
Abbasi in his appeal has said, "Blanco is a close friend of Pakistani community. She understands our
issues and supports our cause."
