Puri: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Laloo Prasad Yadav today (Nov 9) personally requested Tamil
Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha to intervene and sort out the issue arising out of the state Assembly
sentencing senior journalists of the 'The Hindu' and 'Murasoli' to 15 days simple imprisonment in a
breach of privilege case.
Confrontation with the media should always be avoided, Yadav told reporters in Puri.
Yadav said that though several journalists had always opposed him and wrote against him, he had
never taken any steps against them. "It's because the freedom of the press is always to be respected",
he said.
The former Bihar Chief Minister said adding, people also threw chappals and shoes at
politicians.
It's part of democracy and healthy criticism is always welcome, he added.
