New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the servant of the murdered poetess Madhumita Shukla, Desraj, has identified Santosh Rai as Satya Prakash who had accompanied the killer on May 9 this year to her house.

Rai was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on November 6 from Gorakhpur.

A CBI spokesman said that Rai was identified by the servant at the Barbanki Jail today (November 9).

The CBI spokesman said Desraj identified Santosh Rai as Satya Prakash who had gone to Madhumita's residence on May 9, 2003, when she was killed.

He said the Test Identification Parade (TIP) was conducted at Barabanki Jail in Uttar Pradesh where Rai was lodged after being remanded to judicial custody.

He said after Desraj's identification it was now clear that Rai was the accomplice of the killer who shot dead Madhumita at her Paper Mill Colony residence.
