'Deal for Admiral Gorshkov unlikely during PM visit'
Tuesday, November 11 2003 23:00 Hrs (IST)

Moscow: A deal for the purchase of Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov by the Indian Navy is unlikely to be signed during the current visit of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Russia.

India and Russia are still discussing the specifics of the deal and it may take a little more time to finalize it, a top Indian official said in Moscow tonight (Nov 11) on condition of anonymity.

India is in talks with Russia for quite some time for the acquisition of the 44,000-ton aircraft carrier as well as other defence equipment.
