Vadodara: Union Shipping Minister Shathrughna Sinha, known for the witty one-liners as a columnist with a film magazine and television anchor till recently, today (Nov 11) remarked, "If Laloo Prasad Yadav could become the Prime Minister of India, any body can be the PM."

Sinha was reacting to Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Yadav's recent statement that he would become the Prime Minister one day.

"Agar Laloo Yadav Pradhan Mantri banta hai, to koi bhi lallu panju desh ka Pradhan Mantri ban sakta hai," (If Laloo Yadav could become the Prime Minister then anybody can become the PM of the country), the yesteryears actor remarked during an informal chat with reporters.

Sinha said that the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has shown a remarkable personality by continuing with the top post despite heading a 24-party coalition Government at the Centre since 1998.

"He is the first PM to achieve this," Sinha said adding, under Vajpayee's able leadership, country has achieved remarkable progress in every field.

Condemning the action of Tamil Nadu Speaker against six journalists of 'The Hindu' and 'Murasoli', Sinha said muzzling the media would tantamount to curbing democracy.
