A change of clothes that spoiled a joint declaration

New Delhi: Had not Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf went in for change of clothes at Agra, the joint
declaration between the two countries would have been signed, Pakistani Information Minister Sheikh
Rashid said today (November 12).
"As I know the facts, President Musharraf went to his room only to change as both countries had agreed
to the joint declaration...When he came back, the Indian mood had changed," Rashid, who was in New
Delhi in connection with the third SAARC Information Ministers' Conference, told reporters.
"Mein jhoot nahi bol raha hun aur na hi President Musharraf ko jhoot bolne ki adat hai (I am not lying nor
President Musharraf has the habit of lying)," Rashid said.
"Musharraf had gone to change so that he looked good in the photographs," Rashid said and
added, "But next time, I think no Pakistani ruler will dare to change his clothes when such an important
issue is taking place."
When told that India, unlike Pakistan, was a Democracy and even the Prime Minister needed to consult
his Cabinet colleagues, Rashid remarked, "(Atal Bihari) Vajpayee is no kid and he knows what he is
doing."
