SC order being honoured, Jaya tells Advani

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has assured Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani that
orders of the Supreme Court staying arrest of five journalists of 'The Hindu' on the basis of the Tamil
Nadu Assembly resolution were being fully honoured.
"There is absolutely no threat to N Ram (Editor-in-Chief) or to 'The Hindu' office as is being made out by
media," and orders of the Supreme Court staying warrants against the staffers of the daily were being
fully complied with and implemented by State police, she said in a letter to Advani, a copy of which was
released to the media last night (November 11).
Jayalalithaa's assurance is the first comment from the Government after the Supreme Court stayed the
arrest of Editor N Ravi, Executive Editor Malini Parathasarthy, Publisher S Rangarajan, Chief of Bureau
V Jayant and Special Correspondent Radha Venkatesan of 'The Hindu' and S Selvam, Editor of DMK
(Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam)'s mouthpiece 'Murasoli' on Monday (Nov 10).
