Mumbai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the multi-crore fake stamps scam today
(November 12) submitted a report to the Bombay High Court about the alleged involvement of senior
police officials, including Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma, in shielding scamster Abdul Karim
Telgi.
On behalf of the SIT Advocate General Ghulam Vahanwati submitted a sealed envelope containing the
report to the High Court Bench consisting of Chief Justice C K Thakkar and Justice Abhay Oka this
morning, sources said.
While submitting the report, Vahanwati urged the High Court to ensure that the report did not go public
in the interest of the ongoing investigations of the SIT, sources added.
The Bombay High Court had directed Director General of Police (DGP) Puri to probe the involvement of
police officials in the scam, following a bunch of public interest litigations (PILs) filed by social worker
Anna Hazare and others.
The PILs alleged that senior police officials were hand-in-glove with scamster Telgi, sources said.
