Andhra not ready for Assembly polls, says Lyngdoh

New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) J M Lyngdoh today (Nov 14) said Andhra Pradesh was
not prepared for holding Assembly elections at the moment and made it clear that the Election
Commission "takes its own time and whenever it is ready" in carrying out such exercises.
"It is not prepared at the moment," he told NDTV when asked how well equipped Andhra Pradesh was
since revision of electoral rolls was still taking place.
On the State's move for holding the elections in February and whether the Commission was agreeable
for this, he said, "The EC takes its own time and whenever it is ready."
He went on to add, "We have six months to do it after the dissolution of the Assembly."
Lyngdoh said the electoral rolls would have to be revised and that it could be done earliest be done by
the end of January.
About whether the State could face problems if the annual budget was not cleared by March end, he
said "that is their business".
