'Buoyant mid-year review not for political mileage'
Friday, November 14 2003 23:14 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Government today (November 14) dismissed suggestions that the mid-year economic review was released ahead of Parliament session to get political mileage in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

"The mid-year review had to be released on time and this year winter session of Parliament is starting late," Chief Economic Advisor Ashok Lahiri told reporters.

On the back of good monsoon, the mid-year economic review has forecast a buoyant 7 per cent growth.

"At least the citizens of the country and the Press can be informed of what is happening," Lahiri said.
