Violence against Biharis in Assam continues

Guwahati: Sporadic incidents of violence including torching of huts and breaking of glass-panes of several cars of Biharis were today (Nov 16) reported from different parts of the city in the wake of the attack on Assamese train passengers in Bihar for the past few days.

Official sources said glass-panes of several cars were smashed by some miscreants in the Fancy Bazar area, a concentration of Hindi-speaking people.

In another incident, two huts and two cowsheds belonging to Biharis were torched inside the Guwahati University campus by miscreants.

A scuffle between AASU activists and some Bihar youths was reported from Itabhata in Dhirenpara area of the city. There was, however, no report of any injury.
