Don't do a Bangaru to Judeo: Laxman tells BJP
Monday, November 17 2003 16:21 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bangaru Laxman, who had to resign in the
wake of the Tehelka expose, today (November 17) said the party should stand by Dilip Singh Judeo,
who is alleged to have accepted bribe promising to fix a mining deal.
"The one man who was giving leadership to the BJP campaign (in Chattisgarh) was Dilip Singh Judeo.
He was targeted. Now the party should pick up political courage and face it politically," he told
NDTV.
Laxman feels the party has not extended the moral support to him when he needed it the
most.
"In fact, the resignation at that particular point of time was my voluntary resignation. Subsequently, the
party should have extended the moral support. The moral support was not on expected lines...Therefore
I feel, yes, a different treatment has been meted out to Bangaru, which I did not expect," he
said.
"So, I only plead now that don't do Bangaru to Judeo," Laxman added.
