Monday, November 17 2003 13:43 Hrs (IST)

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today (November 17) filed a defamation suit against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti for levelling "baseless" charges against him.

The suit was filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate N S Dixit.

On Friday (Nov 14), the Chief Minister's lawyer sent a notice to Bharti, BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for State Assembly polls, asking her to apologise within 24 hours or face legal action.

Digvijay Singh has termed as "baseless and unfounded" the allegations levelled by Bharti against him from time to time.
