Cong rejects PM's demands for Jogi's resignation
Tuesday, November 18 2003 22:49 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Citing a Delhi court order exempting Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi from personal appearance in a case relating to alleged use of forged documents, Congress today (Nov 18) rejected Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's demand for resignation of Jogi.

"Even the court has given Jogi exemption till January 15. We in Congress do not interfere in judicial pronouncement," party general secretary Ambika Soni told reporters when asked about Vajpayee's demand.

On the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry ordered into Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Singh Judeo's alleged graft case, she said the Government should first file a first information report (FIR) against the former Union Minister and secure evidence in the case.

Replying to a query, she wondered how a free and fair inquiry was possible in the matter when BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu is openly defending Judeo even after the probe was ordered by the Prime Minister.
