Govt denies allowing 26 pc FII in pvt banks

New Delhi: Government today (November 19) denied that it has decided to allow upto 26 per cent Foreign Institutional Investment (FII) in private sector banks.

"At the moment no such decision has been taken by Government of India in this regard, neither any official communication been issued in the matter," a Finance Ministry release said.

The clarification was issued in the wake of reports that a notification allowing 26 per cent FII investment would be issued in a few days.
