Srinagar: Security forces today (November 19) launched an operation to flush out militants, believed to
be two to three in number, holed up inside a residential house at Indira Nagar in high security
Badamibagh cantonment area, official sources said.
Two Army personnel, including Commanding officer of 32nd Rashtriya Rifles and his deputy, were
injured as security forces successfully rescued seven civilians early this morning from the house, where
militants are believed to be holed up after carrying out an attack in which a Central Reserve Police
Force (CRPF) personnel was killed and three others were injured yesterday.
"We have successfully rescued seven civilians from the house where the militants are holed up. The
number of militants is at least two," Defence Spokesman Mukhtar Singh told reporters.
Two Rashtriya Rifles officers were injured during rescue operation as the militants hurled a grenade at
them, he said.
One CRPF personnel was killed and three were injured when militants belonging to Al-Mansoorian, a
shadow of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), attacked their camp in high security cantonment area in Srinagar
yesterday. The security forces launched an operation to track down the militants after the attack.
