Islamabad: Terming as "wild charges" frequent reports in the local media that Indian underworld don
Dawood Ibrahim lived in Pakistan, President Pervez Musharraf has said such reports "hurt" the
international image of the country.
In an interaction with editors of Pakistani media last night (Nov 20), Musharraf said he was embarrassed
by the frequent reports that Dawood Ibrahim was living in the country.
He said such "wild charges hurt the international image of Pakistan" and brought a bad name to the
country.
While Pakistani officials have consistently denied that Dawood lived in Karachi, local media have carried
many stories about his activities in the port city.
Pakistani magazine 'Herald' in its recent edition had reported that Dawood was shifting his operations to
Islamabad after United States Treasury department listed him as a global terrorist and linked him with
various militant groups like al- Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
