New Delhi: In a swift reaction, Pakistan today (Nov 24) termed as a "step forward" India's statement that it will respond "positively" on its unilateral ceasefire offer along the Line of Control (LoC) and claimed it has done all that it could to check cross-border terrorism or infiltration.

"Pakistan has made the offer (of unilateral ceasefire) that India has accepted, so it is a step forward," Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri told NDTV 24x7.

He said, "I am happy that the Government of India has welcomed that. I have always tried to do whatever I can to improve Indo-Pakistan relations."

On New Delhi asking Pakistan to end infiltration across LoC to make the ceasefire "durable", Kasuri said, "This is an old controversy that it going on."

"Now, what India is saying on cross-border terrorism or infiltration...our point of view is that the Government of Pakistan has done all that it could and is always trying to do the maximum that neither the US nor the Government of India (have done)."

Kasuri contended that even the US has not been able to seal its border with Mexico, nor has the Indian Government been able to seal its border.

The Pakistan Minister said his country had offered stationing of neutral monitors on both sides of LoC.

"We want peace with India. We want composite dialogue in which all outstanding issues of concern including that of Kashmir will be addressed," Kasuri said.
