New Delhi: Editor-in-Chief of Tehelka Tarun Tejpal has said that the Indian Express newspaper should
make public all information related to tapes involving former Union Minister Dilip Singh Judeo to
give "more credibility" to its story.
"The public of the country have a right to know from where the CDs came...All possible information must
be given to the people, so that they are able to form their opinion, but this does not undermine the
legitimacy of the investigative story," he told BBC's programme "Aapki Baat BBC Ke Saath".
On investigative journalism, he felt "the biggest challenge for journalists today is to make politicians and
political parties accountable to the public".
He said he would soon launch a weekly newspaper to show "we are neither against nor in favour of any
party. We stand for the truth".
Putting forward Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s view, Rajya Sabha member Balbir Punj told the
programme, "If a media organisation exposes a deal which involves kickbacks, I will welcome it as an
example of investigative journalism."
"But when you create a scene, get actors for a fictitious deal, then this generates doubt about the
intention of the whole case," Punj said. He also alleged that all these "sting" operations
were "conspiracies" against BJP.
