3 more Biharis killed in Assam, toll rises to 56

Guwahati: Anti-Bihari violence continued unabated in Assam with three more persons killed and five, including women and children injured at Khanglabari under Udalguri police station in Darrang district taking the toll in the bloodletting in the state to 56.

The suspected United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) assailants, who struck at the Bihari settlement around 9.30 PM (IST) yesterday (November 24), also set ablaze nine houses before fleeing, Assam Home Commissioner K D Tripathy told reporters.

This is the first incident of violence in the lower Assam district, he said.
