No one should question CBI's credibility: PM

Raipur: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Nov 26) came to the defence of Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) saying none should question its credibility, and charged the Congress with indulging
in character assassinations of Union Ministers for allegedly "milking" of public sector undertakings
(PSUs).
Addressing an election meeting, he said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi had voiced his lack of faith
in CBI when the agency was asked to probe the authenticity of the purported Intelligence Bureau (IB)
document cited by Jogi alleging the Centre's conspiracy against Opposition politicians.
"Should the so-called IB document probe be handed over to the Scotland Yard?" Vajpayee asked,
adding "no one should question the credibility of the CBI".
Vajpayee's remarks about CBI assume significance in the backdrop of Congress' recent attacks on the
investigating agency for indulging in "selective" leaks against the party leaders and its director P C
Sharma's comments on dropping of charges against Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani in Babri Masjid
demolition case.
