Mumbai: The Sensex opened moderately higher and later rallied smartly in line with a strong stocks
upsurge during morning trading on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today (Nov 27) on heavy buying
support from investors.
The BSE benchmark 30-share index opened past 4,900-level at 4,907.38 as against Tuesday's (Nov
25) close of 4,894.59 and later spurted to a high at 4,946.98 before being quoted at 4,941.30 at 10.30
hrs (IST).
Speculators were believed to have turned buyers at the last session of November contract for Futures
and Options, making large commitments in a number of blue-chip stocks on expectations that Foreign
Institutional Investors (FIIs) were still bullish on Indian bourses, market sources said.
Though the market seemed to be operator driven, investors were encouraged by consistent net
purchases by domestic mutual funds since November 17.
The market expected to remain volatile during the session in view of concluding day of derivatives.
Key stocks like HPCL, BHEL, Tata Motor, Tisco, RIL, GACL, Grasim, CIPLA, Dr Reddy's Lab, Infosys
Tech, ITC, L&T, ONGC, Ranbaxy Lab, Satyam Computers, SBI and Zee Telefilms were quoted
remarkably higher on fresh buying support.
Among the top gainers, Jindal Strips were quoted up by 19.99 per cent, Tata Info by 13.65 per cent, Info
Ent by 7.21 per cent, Thomas Cook by 6.18 per cent, Sterlite by 5.51 per cent, EIHotel by 4.21 per cent,
IBP by 4.20 per cent and Sygenta by 3.97 per cent.
