Friday, November 28 2003 14:40 Hrs (IST)

Jammu: The ceasefire which came into effect Tuesday (November 25) mid-night persisted with no violation reported by Pakistan troops along the border in Jammu and Kashmir, a spokesman of Northern Command said in Jammu today (November 28).

There was no firing from across the border in any sector along approximately 200 kms International Border (IB), about 800 kms stretch of Line of Control (LOC) and 120 kms Actual Ground Position Line (AGPL) since the declaration of ceasefire by Pakistani and reciprocated by India, Spokesman Lt.Col.R K Sen told reporters.

He said that Army continues to maintain vigil along the border and will continue to keep up its guard as usual.

We are hopeful that Pakistani Army would continue to observe the ceasefire in order to ensure peace on both sides of the border, Col. Sen said.

The Director Generals of Military Operations of both sides continues to be in touch after having finalised the modalities of ceasefire, he said.
