Uma Shankar Mishra named CBI's new Director

New Delhi: Uma Shankar Mishra, special director in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was today (Dec 1, 2003) appointed as the new Director of the agency, an official announcement said.

Mishra, a 1968 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Orissa cadre, will succeed present incumbent P C Sharma, who will be retiring on December 6.

His name was cleared by the Appointment's Committee of the Cabinet, it said.
