Mumbai: Close on the heels of police seizing fake adhesive stamps worth Rs 72 lakh from a dump in
Nasik, a television channel today (Dec 1, 2003) claimed to have busted another fake stamps and
currency notes dump, even as police said it was looking into the matter.
A television channel ran an exclusive story showing its reporter barging into a house allegedly owned by
Prasoon Agrawal, who was arrested in the Rs 72 lakh fake stamps dump case, and discovering
unaccounted fake stamps and fake international currency.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chagan Bhujbal who also holds the Home portfolio, said he was
unaware of the dump and informed that the police will be asked to ascertain the matter.
The channel, which showed the clandestine operation, claimed that the dump belonged to Agrawal and
was located in a house adjacent to the premises from where the Rs 72 lakh worth fake stamps were
seized.
Meanwhile, DCP Bipin Kumar Singh, who had ordered the raid at Agrawal's Nasik home earlier, said he
was unaware of today's new dump shown by the channel at Nasik.
He said the Nasik Police will have to take the necessary action.
