Raman Singh likely to be Chattisgarh's next CM
Friday, December 5 2003 14:11 Hrs (IST)

Raipur: With Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) all set to form its first Government in Chattisgarh, the party's State unit chief Raman Singh appears to be emerging as the consensus candidate to be the next Chief Minister.

Singh's name is understood to have gathered increasing support over Union Minister Ramesh Bais, party sources said.

The newly elected legislators would meet at the BJP headquarters in the afternoon to formally elect the legislature party leader, they said.

Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Swami Chinmayanand and party national general secretary Sanjay Joshi are camping in Raipur, as Central observers to oversee the election of the legislature party leader.
