Ayodhya observes 11th year of Babri demolition

Ayodhya: The eleventh anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque was observed in the temple
town of Ayodhya amidst tight security.
Different Muslim and Hindu organisations held their separate programmes to observe the day in
different ways, even as the administration deployed additional security forces including the Rapid Action
Force (RAF) and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) at all important places to monitor the law and
order situation.
People paid obeisance at the makeshift temple of Ram Lalla at the acquired land as usual.
Muslims observed the day as Kheraz -e-Akidat (day of mourning) and Hindus organised a "shanti
yagna" at a local temple.
The Babri Masjid Action Committee convenor Zafaryab Jilani, who took part in the "mourning day"
programme said its aim was to remind the community about the demolition of the Babri mosque on
December six,1992.
Jilani said that as there was no hope of the dispute being resolved through dialogue, both the
communities should prepare for accepting the court verdict in the matter.
Referring to the recent Assembly elections in four States where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
performed impressively using development as its main election plank, Jilani said that this indicated that
the Hindu community was not interested in the temple issue and urged the saffron party not to misuse it
for political gains.
