'Ceasefire not a retreat from Pak stance on Kashmir'

Islamabad: Dismissing the charge that Pakistan has retreated from its stance on Kashmir by declaring
ceasefire with India, President Pervez Musharraf today (Dec 6, 2003) said that on the contrary, the
Kashmir issue and other matters would be resolved through a dialogue in the light of a series of recent
confidence-building measures taken by the two sides.
"Dialogue between Pakistan and India is to commence soon to discuss all outstanding issues between
two countries," he said at the convocation of Forman Christian College at Lahore, the official APP news
agency reported.
He said Pakistan had in no way retracted from its stance on Kashmir by agreeing for a ceasefire with
India, a charge made by Pakistan-based militant outfits.
About construction of fence by India along the Line of Control (LoC), the President in a significant
observation said India is building fence deep inside its own territory about five km from the LoC and is
not even visible from Pakistani side.
