Sacked Bihar DGP Ojha not to resign from service
Saturday, December 6 2003 23:04 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Reversing his earlier stand, Bihar Director General of Police D P Ojha, who was removed from the post, tonight (Dec 6, 2003) said he will not resign from the service due to "technicalities" but will not work for the State Government in the remaining two months of his service.

"I have not resigned due to technicalities... because otherwise I will not get any post-retiral benefits. I may go on long leave or take voluntary retirement. But I will not work for this (Bihar) Government anymore," he told NDTV.

Soon after getting his transfer order earlier in the day, Ojha had announced that he would resign.

Ojha, who will retire on February 29 next year, also said he would move court to challenge what he described as "malafide transfer".

"I will file a petition either in the High Court or the Supreme Court stating the reasons that led to the State Government to remove me from the post of DGP," Ojha had told a crowded press conference earlier in the day.

He alleged that criminal gangs were being supported by "powerful politicians" in the State.
