Commitment to Ram Temple not given up, says BJP
Monday, December 8 2003 15:41 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Upbeat over the massive victory in the Assembly elections, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has said even though its plank in the Lok Sabha will be development and good governance, it does not mean that it has given up its ideology and commitment to Ram temple.

"BJP would like to fight Lok Sabha elections on the plank of development and good governance but this does not mean it has given up its ideology or commitment to important issues like Ram temple, Uniform Civil Code and Hindutva", party president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters.

"Elections are really fought on governance and development and we would like to tell people that India has possibility to be super power as we have all the resources for this," he said ruling out early Lok Sabha elections.

Describing the recent victories as "Advantage BJP" and that the main Opposition Congress has suffered a "psychological depression", Naidu said, "There is a clear contrast between the two political parties in the country. One is stable and there are no question marks over its leadership and universal acceptability of Atal Bihari Vajpayee".

"On the other hand, there is confusion among Opposition and there is disillusionment. There are question marks about leadership and contradictory views on approach to issues. We are united and they are divided," Naidu said.
