2 killed, 7 injured in bomb explosion in Assam

Guwahati: Two persons were killed and seven others injured in a bomb explosion in Assam's violence-hit Tinsukia district this evening (Dec 8, 2003).

Police said a bomb, kept in a bag near a hardware shop at Makum, exploded killing one person on the spot and injuring nine others critically.

Senior police and civil officials rushed to the spot and further details are awaited.

Tinsukia district was worst-affected in the recent anti-Bihari violence accounting for 29 of the 56 deaths.
