Chandra Committee recommends 49 pc FDI in airlines

New Delhi: The Naresh Chandra Committee on civil aviation has recommended allowing upto 49 per
cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country's airlines.
The five-member panel, which submitted its report today (Dec 8, 2003) to Union Civil Aviation Minister
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, also recommended that private domestic airlines should be allowed to fly abroad,
Chandra told reporters.
Giving details of the roadmap, it mooted foreign investments of upto 100 per cent in the non-scheduled
carriers like helicopter operations.
