Laloo unconstitutional power centre: Ex-police chief
Monday, December 8 2003 15:46 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Mounting a scathing attack on RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) leader Laloo Prasad Yadav ousted police chief of Bihar D P Ojha today (Dec 8, 2003) described him as the unconstitutional centre of power in the state who is running the Government by remote control.

By presiding over important meetings of ministers and top officials of the Government Yadav had emerged as the unconstitutional centre of power in the state as he runs the Government by remote control, Ojha told reporters.

The former Director General of Police (DGP) charged that ministers and top officials of the State took verbal orders from the RJD boss, which were later entered into official files as instructions from the Chief Minister, Rabri Devi.

On being asked if he would reply to the show cause notice issued to him by State Home Secretary B K Haldar to explain him conduct of violating the service code by saying at a function that power in the state has gone into the hands of 'rascal politicians', Ojha said, it (the notice) has become immaterial to me as I have decided to quit from service.

Still, I may reply to the charge if I so wish, at an appropriate forum, Ojha added.
