Mumbai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) today (Dec 8, 2003) arrested under a stringent law former Deputy Superintendent of Stamps Babanrao Tukaram Ranjane on the charge of conniving with the syndicate of prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, SIT sources said.

Meanwhile, suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police M C Mulani, arrested in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, was today remanded to police custody till December 16.

Mulani, who was arrested last week, was produced before the court on expiry of his magisterial custody remand.
