Uma Bharti takes over as first woman CM of MP

Bhopal: Sanyansin-politician, Uma Bharti was today (Dec 8, 2003) sworn-in as the first woman Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Bharti, who steered the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) to landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh, was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Ram Prakash Gupta at the historic Lal Parade ground in Bhopal in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and a galaxy of leaders.
