Curfew relaxed, Hyderabad limping back to normalcy

Hyderabad: The indefinite curfew imposed in the old city area after the communal violence on Saturday night (Dec 6, 2003) has been relaxed for three hours this morning (Dec 9), police said.

"The curfew has been relaxed in eight police station limits of old city from 7 am," police said adding, RAF (Rapid Action Force) has been deployed in the area to maintain peace and order during the relaxation time.

Situation in the walled city is returning to normal with no fresh incidents of violence reported from the affected areas.

Curfew was imposed in eight police station limits of Dabeerpura, Charminar, Bhavaninagar, Moghulpura, Falaknuma, Chatrinaka, Mir Chowk and Shah Ali Banda following the communal violence, which left five persons dead and several others injured.
